Here we go a little run down from our extravagant night on Saturday at the Queensland Training Awards 2019, as a State Finalist. Ray was just a little nervous to say the least of it, I guess becoming one of Queensland’s Top Trainers, you’d expect that!

Suits, Dresses, oh and do not forget the red carpet! John Legend once said “whatever awards come, they come. It’s going to be a fun night either way.”, and we defiantly showed everyone how to have fun!

Ray has not only made himself proud with his achievements, but he has made his family, friends’ business and students proud. Ray was up against six other teachers / trainers who worked for High Schools, Colleges, Tafe and a University.  To be the only independent trainer against government funded and supported teachers is a massive accomplishment! We are now extremely determined to continue our successes and continue to make everyone around us proud.

Ray’s has made a huge impact on everyone’s life around him, we are not the only ones to agree with that!  He is the man of many talents, passions, dreams and successes.  The main lesson that we have learnt is that ‘winning doesn’t always mean being first. Winning means you’re doing better than you’ve ever done before’ Bonnie Blair.

Ray is a dynamic and dedicated Trainer in the Emergency Rescue and Response Industry. His passion is to help others through the experience he has gained during his 23 years of Public Safety Service with Queensland Fire and Rescue. Ray    ’s personal philosophy to ‘empower individuals through training and education to save lives’ is shared with his students through the delivery of almost 40 different courses.

What a memorable night that we all had, from meeting new people who became friends, maybe a few too many to drink and food that went cold because we couldn’t stop talking to each other, or laughing… From dancing to the music, to getting photos taken, every minute was one to treasure.

ERMQ Team and Ray would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone around us who supports, encourages and helps us when we need it! We would also like to thank you to Queensland Overseas Foundation for being the sponsor of our category VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year 2019 and all other sponsors who made this night happen. To be surrounded by such amazing minded people makes us believe how lucky we are, and it makes us realise there are so many good people and opportunities to appreciate! ‘Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you’, Misty Copeland.

We would love to seek nominations, support letters or any help to get Ray over the line next year, because ERMQ believes that he can become the best of the best in Queensland. ERMQ would also like to seek nominations for students who are currently enrolled in the Certificate III Mines Rescue and Response for the 2020 Queensland Training Awards. Larry Bird states that ‘A winner is someone who recognises his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills and uses these skills to accomplish his goals’. We all believe in you Ray and about time you start too as well.
