Enter and work in confined spaces

RIIWHS202D

This unit covers the entering and working in confined spaces in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes planning and preparing for entry of confined spaces; entry and working in confined spaces, exiting confined spaces and cleaning up.

This unit specifies the competency required to work in a confined space (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections.

This unit can be completed as a stand alone course or as part of a skills set. There are several skill set options available.

Gas Test Atmospheres

MSMWHS217

This unit is about testing the working atmosphere to determine if it is safe for the proposed work. Testing involves the use of electronic test apparatus.
Through the combination of theory and practical training, this course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to safely use and operate single or multi-gas detection instruments.

In a typical scenario an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace. The competency requires the person to interpret readings and take actions based on the interpretation.

Operate breathing apparatus

MSMWHS216

This unit covers competence associated with the operation and maintenance of breathing apparatus equipment in an irrespirable atmosphere.

This competency applies to operators who are required to wear breathing apparatus for part of their job - because they are working in a confined space, with hazardous gases/vapours, in an anoxic atmosphere or for other applications requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus. They may also be required to wear it in emergency situations, however this is not the prime focus of this unit, and so makes this unit different from PUAFIR207A Operate breathing apparatus open circuit, as it has no prerequisite and is much broader in its application.

Qld Work Safely In the Construction Industry

CPCCOHS1001A

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) induction training within the construction industry. It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of WHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.

This unit is designed to meet WHS regulatory authority requirements for WHS induction and must be achieved before access to any building and construction work site. The target group will be people requiring training to safely work on construction sites.

Work Safely at Heights

RIIWHS204D

This unit covers working safely at heights in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: identifying the work requirements, work procedures and instructions for the task; accessing and installing equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning up the work area.

This unit specifies the competency required to undertake safe working practices when working at heights or depths.

Workers who require additional training and knowledge of working safely at heights.
